Gentle Meditative Yoga with Yoga Nidra – Unwind and Rest on Thursday with Allison Chrisman - Thursday 8pm CST online
This Gentle Meditative Yoga class provides a peaceful, nurturing space for you to unwind and rest after your day. Designed for all levels, the practice features slow, mindful movements that promote flexibility, balance, and relaxation. Most postures are close to the floor, encouraging a grounded practice where you can listen to your body and move at your own pace. With a focus on breath awareness and gentle stretches, you’ll release tension and invite a deep sense of calm.
The class concludes with a restorative Yoga Nidra session, a guided meditation that encourages conscious relaxation. In this state, your body remains deeply relaxed while your mind stays awake, supporting mental clarity, stress relief, and a reset of your nervous system. Perfect for those seeking stress relief, improved sleep, or simply a moment of peace, this practice offers an opportunity to rest, recharge and reconnect with your inner calm.
Yin & Restorative Yoga: The Art of Slowing Down
In a world that moves at a fast pace, we often forget the importance of slowing down and simply being present. Yin and Restorative Yoga offer the perfect counterbalance to this hurried lifestyle. These styles of yoga emphasize deep relaxation, stillness, and surrender, allowing your body and mind to heal and recharge.
Yin Yoga focuses on long-held postures that target the deep connective tissues of the body. The practice invites a meditative state, encouraging you to breathe into your body and release any tension. By slowing down and holding each pose for several minutes, we create space for deep release and inner quiet.
Restorative Yoga is designed to help you fully relax and restore. Supported poses, often using props like blankets and bolsters, allow you to settle deeply into comfort and ease. This practice invites you to soften your body and mind, allowing your nervous system to reset and recalibrate. It’s the perfect opportunity to let go of stress, recover from physical exertion, and nourish your overall well-being.
My Approach to Yoga: Mindful, Meditative Movement
I believe in the power of yoga to transform, not just in the body, but in the heart and mind as well. My classes are based on the principles of mindfulness and deep listening—guiding you to connect with your breath, create space within, and hone the tools to navigate life’s challenges.
Each class I offer is crafted to blend peace with movement with stillness, insight with breath, and philosophy with practice. I draw inspiration from a wide range of healing modalities, integrating elements from each to create sequences that are both nurturing and invigorating. The focus is always on the breath, helping you to cultivate a practice that is both heart-centered and grounded in awareness.
Whether you are new to yoga or a seasoned practitioner, my classes are designed to meet you where you are. My offerings are welcoming to all students to find their own path within each practice. No matter your experience level, my approach ensures that every class feels accessible, supportive, and fulfilling.
The Benefits of Yoga: Centering, Strengthening, and Transforming
Yoga has been a continual source of balance and inspiration for me, helping me to embrace the lessons of impermanence, stay grounded in the present moment, and cultivate inner strength. It is through the practice of yoga that we find the tools to navigate life’s challenges with grace and clarity.
Through each practice, whether slow flow or restorative, my goal is to help you find that same balance. To create space within your body, to listen deeply to your own needs, and to cultivate peace both on and off the mat. Yoga is a lifelong journey, and I am here to guide you through every step—whether it’s exploring mindfulness, deepening your connection to breath, or simply finding a moment of stillness amidst the chaos of life.
Join me in this journey of self-discovery, healing, and transformation. Let’s slow down together, embrace the wisdom of the practice, and nurture ourselves from the inside out.
“Yoga is a dance between control and surrender, between pushing and letting go, and when to push and when to let go becomes part of the creative process, part of the open-ended exploration of your being.”
